Board of Directors
Qi Ji is our founder and has also served as the executive chairman of our board since February 2007. In November 2019, Mr. Ji took the additional role of chief executive officer. He co-founded Home Inns & Hotels Management Inc., or Home Inns, and served as its chief executive officer from January 2001 to January 2005. He also co-founded Ctrip.com International, Ltd., or Ctrip.com, one of the largest online travel services provider in China, in 1999, acted as its chief executive officer and president until December 2001, and currently serves on Ctrip.com's board as an independent director. Prior to founding Ctrip.com, Mr. Ji was the chief executive officer of Shanghai Sunflower High-Tech Group, which he founded in 1997. He headed the East China Division of Beijing Zhonghua Yinghua Intelligence System Co., Ltd. from 1995 to 1997. Mr. Ji received both his Master's and Bachelor's degrees from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Min (Jenny) Zhang has served as our executive vice chair-lady since November 2019. She was our chief executive officer since May 2015 to November 2019, previously President. She also served as our chief financial officer and chief strategy officer during March 2008 to May 2015, and November 2013 to January 2015, respectively. Ms. Zhang has more than 15 years of experience in finance and consulting with multinational companies. Prior to joining us in 2007, she was the Finance Director of Eli Lilly (Asia) Inc., Thailand Branch and the Chief Financial Officer of ASIMCO Casting (Beijing) Company, Ltd. She also worked previously with McKinsey & Company, Inc. as a consultant. Ms. Zhang obtained her Masters of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School and received both Master's and Bachelor's degrees from the University of International Business and Economics.
Sébastien Bazin has served as our director since January 2016. Bazin has been acting as the Chairman and CEO of AccorHotels since 2013. Having earned a Masters in Business Management from Paris-Sorbonne University, Sébastien Bazin began his career in the US finance industry in 1985. In 1997, he joined Colony Capital, a private-equity firm, to set up and European operations. During his 15 years with the firm, he managed and participated in a large number of investments in the hospitality industry, including the acquisition of luxury hotel chains Fairmont and Raffles, the acquisition and management of hotel assets from Compagnie Générale des Eaux and Club Méditerranée, the acquisition of an equity stake in Lucien Barrière Group, and the investment in Accor. He is also Vice-Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Gustave Roussy Foundation.
Mr. Shangzhi Zhang has served as our director since June 2016. He has more than 30 years of experience in hotel industry and foreign trade. Mr. Zhang has been President of Tianjin Amis Hotel Management Company since 2009. He acted as General Delegate of Accor Hotel Group in China and President of Ibis in China from 1999 to 2008. He served as Deputy General Manager at China Export Commodity Base Development Corporation from 1993 to 1998. Prior to that, Mr. Zhang held senior positions at Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation. He was Third Secretary of Commercial Bureau of Chinese Embassy in Zaire from 1981 to 1985. Mr. Zhang graduated from Beijing Institute of Foreign Trade. He studied at General Department of Interpretation of European Communities in Brussels and French National School of Administration. In 2014, Mr. Zhang received medal award of "Chevalier de Legion d'honneur" from French government.
Ms. Xiaofan Wang has served as Chief Financial Officer of Ctrip since November 2013 and Executive Vice President of Ctrip since May 2016. Ms. Wang joined Ctrip in 2001 and has held a number of managerial positions at Ctrip. Prior to joining Ctrip, she served as finance manager in China eLabs, a venture capital firm from 2000 to 2001. Previously, Ms. Wang worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers Zhong Tian CPAs Limited Company. Ms. Wang received a Master of Business Administration from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and obtained her Bachelor's degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Ms. Wang is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Tongtong Zhao, a co-founder of our company, has served as our director since February 2007. She was the General Manager of Shanghai Asia-Tang Health Technology Development Co., Ltd. from 2004 to 2006, the General Manager of Shanghai Hong Ying Hi-Tech Co., Ltd. from 1999 to 2001, and the Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Xie Cheng Science and Technology Co., Ltd. from 1997 to 1998. Ms. Zhao received her Master of Science degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and obtained her Master of Business Administration degree from McGill University.
Mr. Jian Shang has served as our independent director since May 2014. He has over 15 years of experience in corporate management and financial innovation. He served as Managing Director of UBS Global Asset Management and as Chief Executive Officer of UBS SDIC Fund Management Company from 2006 to 2012. Prior to that, he served as CEO of Yin Hua Fund Management Company, Deputy CEO of Hua An Fund Management Company, and Head of Strategic Planning of Shanghai Stock Exchange respectively from 2001 to 2006. Previously, he was a deputy Division Director of China Securities Regulatory Commission from 1997 to 2000. Mr. Shang obtained his PhD in Finance and MA in Economics from University of Connecticut, and his Bachelor's degree in engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
